About the Rescue
Our story
Founded in 1996, DFW Pug Rescue Club, Inc. (DFWPRC) – a 501(c)(3) non-profit – has become one of the largest pug rescue organizations in the U.S., dedicated to the rescue, care, and placement of unwanted, mistreated, or homeless pugs. Our commitment is unwavering: every purebred pug, REGARDLESS OF AGE OR MEDICAL CONDITION, deserves a chance at a loving home. This past year, our efforts allowed us to rescue an average of more than one pug per day, a clear indicator of both our dedication and the ongoing need for our work.
Upon rescue, each pug receives comprehensive veterinary care, an essential step to prepare them for life in their forever homes. This care, especially for the 35% that are heartworm positive, constitutes the bulk of our expenses. As an all-volunteer, non-profit organization, we rely on the generosity of foster homes to care for pugs until they are adopted, highlighting the importance of community support.
