Sheri Harrelson

Story

I am Sheri Harrelson, the Mom to Pork Chop & Petunia Grace. I was lucky enough to adopt my 1st Pug in 2001, Pudge. My Dad saw a story on the news that following year about an upcoming event called Pug-o-ween with Pugs. So I took Pudge to our very 1st POW in 2002 & quickly
realized I had found my people. It was so much fun & I think I have only missed a handful since. In 2006, I adopted Pebbles as a 7 week old puppy from DFW Pugs & she loved Pudge from day 1; it took him some time to warm up to this rambunctious puppy but eventually they
were best buds. They both attended many POWs with me where we dressed in themes together. Sadly, in 2012 Pudge passed away & that was my first experience with losing a Pug which devastated me. Pebbles missed him so much that after 6 months, I reached out to DFW
Pug Rescue to start the adoption process again. Surprisingly, they had a litter of puppies so I adopted Pork Chop & began my journey again with a 7 week old puppy.
In 2015, I decided I wanted to try to foster & was really afraid it would be too hard. Well, it was & I cried every time one when to their forever home, however I kept on & over the years have fostered 8 Pugs & made some amazing friends with the forever families. I took a break from
fostering when Pebbles got older due to the care she needed & deserved all of my time. Pebbles lived until she was 16 (2022) so she & Pork Chop had 10 wonderful years together. It was devastating for both me & Pork Chop when we lost Pebbles and I knew when the time was right, I’d adopt again.

About 2 months later, I did a couple of transports & overnights but I wasn’t sure if we were ready. Then I saw this sassy little girl coming into rescue from East TX so I did her transport & decided that day I wanted to foster her. That was Ms. Petunia Grace & I’m pretty sure I knew I wanted to adopt her from the moment I met her but needed to know she was a good fit for Pork Chop & I had conflicting feelings about it only being a few months since I lost Pebbles. Well Petunia Grace came into this house & brought such good energy that it started healing Pork Chop & I. She has so many characteristics of Pebbles & it’s exactly what we needed. I have volunteered for many Pug-o-weens, Pug-a-palooza, Pug-a-grams, Easter parties, Pug meet ups, & so much more throughout the years. Most of my close friends now are people I met through Pug rescue & I love having all of them over with all their Pugs for a fun party! I am currently the person who has the honor of reaching out to the adoptive families to request pictures for us to share their Happy Tails. I look forward to many more great Pug adventures.
