DFW Pug Rescue at North Texas Irish Festival
DFW Pug Rescue Event Team will have a booth at the North Texas Irish Festival (1000 1st Ave, Dallas, TX 75210) on March 1st and 2nd! Come say hello and enter the raffle for a basket from Chewy!
Pug Jams
Did you miss the New Orleans Jazz Festival on Bourbon Street during the Super Bowl? No big deal. But if you skipped the DFW Pug Rescue Pug Jams at Hop & Sting Brewery—SHAME ON YOU! The Oak Cliff Jazz Collective brought the house down, but let us be honest—the real stars were the pugs!
Picture this: a sea of curly tails grooving to smooth jazz music, their owners swaying along, and the occasional pug attempting to "sing" with the band. Some pugs took their dance moves very seriously, while others preferred to lounge like jazz legends in a smoky club—minus the smoke, plus a lot more treats. Between sips of craft beer and belly rubs, jazz lovers and pug enthusiasts united for an afternoon of great music, snorting, and shenanigans. If you were not there, do not worry—we’re sure the pugs will forgive you.
What Do Pugs and Rail Yards Have in Common? A Fun Adoption Event!
“All aboard” for the cutest interviews you will ever have! Join our adoptable pugs on Saturday, March 16, 2025, from 1PM to 4PM at Frisco Rail Yard (9040 1st Street, Frisco, TX)—where the pugs are in charge! These four-legged "recruiters" will be sniffing out the best candidates for their forever homes. Be prepared for intense evaluation techniques, such as lap-testing, face-licking, and puppy-dog-eyes assessment. If you pass (which you probably will), they’ll even help you fill out adoption forms! While you are being sized up, enjoy drink specials, and soak in all the pug love. Whether you are ready to adopt or want to bask in the joy of wiggly tails, this is the place to be. Do not miss the train—err, event! These pugs are waiting to steal your heart.
Pug Warrior Program
Monthly gifts from our Pug Warriors are essential in helping us rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome nearly 400 pugs in need each year. In recognition of their gifts, Pug Warriors enjoy exclusive access to special events, volunteer opportunities, and behind-the-scenes glimpses into our efforts to ensure that no pug is left behind.
Pugs and Kisses
Thanks to our friends and volunteers who visited our booth at the Valentine's Pop-up Event in Dallas on February 14.
The Joys of Adopting a Senior Pug
At DFW Pug Rescue, we believe every pug deserves a loving home, regardless of age. While puppies often steal the spotlight, senior pugs bring a special kind of joy and companionship. If you are considering adding a furry friend to your home, here is why adopting a senior pug might be your best decision.
Instant Companions
Senior pugs have already developed their personalities, so what you see is what you get! Unlike puppies, who require time to settle into their temperaments, older pugs have well-defined traits, making finding one that matches your lifestyle easier. Whether you want a cuddle buddy or a mellow companion, a senior pug is perfect.
Lower Maintenance & Calmer Energy
One of the biggest advantages of adopting a senior pug is its lower maintenance. Older dogs are typically house-trained and well past the destructive phase. They understand basic commands and have established routines, making the transition into your home much smoother. Additionally, senior pugs are more relaxed, enjoying leisurely strolls, cozy naps, and quality time by your side, ideal for those who prefer a laid-back companion.
Endless Love and Gratitude
Senior pugs have often experienced hardships, whether through losing a previous owner or time spent in shelters. When you open your heart and home to them, they show immense appreciation through loyalty and affection. The bond between an adopted senior pug and their new family is often incredibly strong.
Health and Wellness Support
Many worry about the medical needs of senior dogs, but at DFW Pug Rescue, we ensure that every pug receives thorough veterinary care before adoption. Our organization covers medical evaluations, vaccinations, and necessary treatments so these pugs can transition into their forever homes in good health. Senior pugs can enjoy many happy years with their new families with proper care.
Saving a Life
Senior pugs are often overlooked in shelters, yet they have so much love to give. By adopting an older pug, you are not just gaining a wonderful pet—you’re giving them a chance to live out their golden years in a warm and loving environment. Your kindness can make all the difference in their final years, providing comfort and happiness.
Perfect for Seniors & Busy Professionals
A senior pug is an excellent alternative for those who may not have the time or energy to train a puppy. They adapt well to a quieter lifestyle, making them ideal for retirees or those with busy schedules. They ask for little but give so much in return—gentle companionship, unconditional love, and an endearing presence that fills a home with warmth.
