Story
Being part of a rescue for over almost 20 years allowed me to develop a love for senior pets - especially those with special needs that need a little more tender loving care. In 2015, as I was looking online, I found the DFW Pug Rescue site and noticed there was a specific link to adopt these special needs and senior pugs. I purposely looked for one that I felt might be overlooked due to certain issues such as age or health. And then I saw her, and my life changed forever. There she was, Ginger, AKA Gingie, at the ripe old age of 14, with the longest tongue sticking out that I’ve ever seen, blind and deaf. I immediately filled out an application, a volunteer brought her over for a home visit, and she became officially part of my family. She rescued us and made our lives complete until 2 years later when she passed away. When you develop a love for pugs, there is no turning back. It is true what they say, pug people are a cult, and the best rescue family to be a part of. I have been involved with the pug rescue since then and have made so many friends that I now consider family.
We currently have 3 pets, all rescue of course, Jubilee-a terrier mix, Peppercorn-a pug mix, and of course Pixel, Miss 2021 Pug-A-Ween, Cruella De Vil. When I’m not getting barked at for snackies, I keep myself busy by finally spending time with my hubby, along with other volunteer opportunities. I have a passion for helping and have volunteered for DFW Pug Rescue as the Sports and Entertainment Ticket Coordinator, the Community Events Coordinator, and the social media team.
